Welcome to The Grand Canyon!
Upon our first view of the
Grand Canyon we were speechless.
It looks more like a picture than an actual landform. Even though we hiked in the Canyon all
day, we still felt it was surreal.
As we descended, we took pictures of nearly every rock. We also brought
flags from our home countries and had the opportunity to take pictures with the
entire group and their flags. Many
other tourists were impressed with our group and took pictures of us. Other hikers stopped us on the trail to
ask us about our home countries. We
really enjoyed talking with Americans about where we are from and why we are
here in the U.S.

This was my first time at the
Grand Canyon. We hiked down and
took pictures at the same time with our friends. We learned how to be better
hikers as we descended. Once we
reached the bottom of the Grand Canyon we were overwhelmed with its beauty. We were so taken by the beauty of the
Grand Canyon that we continued hiking without stopping. The Grand Canyon looked like a
poster. After we made it to the
top of the Grand Canyon, we felt energized and great. We were ready for more!
We took more pictures, went in the gift shops and ate a snack.
In one of the gift shops, we
listened to cowboy and Western music. The cashier noticed that we weren’t American and was
very interested in knowing us. We
became friends and are going to stay in touch.
Having an ice cream at the
top of the Grand Canyon was such a satisfying experience. We also took a shuttle to view the
overlooks we would not be able to see otherwise and took great shots. At the end of the day we were
exhausted as we drove back to our hotel on the bus.

This was my first time at the
Grand Canyon. I was in the first
group to hike. When we hiked 1.5 miles
into the canyon, we had a snack. The squirrels came right up to us and wanted
our snack. We took pictures of the
squirrels because they came so close to us.
We took a lot of breaks
during our hike. We sang a
Portuegese song from “The Fast and the Furious 5” soundtrack.
Hiking the Grand Canyon was
harder than doing track and field in high school. I was so excited because I saw a group of people from Taiwan
and talked to them in Taiwanese.
We took some photos where we
pretended we were falling off the Grand Canyon.

Stretching Before the Hike
We went to the Grand Canyon
and I hiked with my friends. We
stopped a lot because we were tired and took a lot of pictures. I’m not good at hiking but my friends
are really tough and they helped me a lot with the hike. This was my first time at the Grand
Canyon and I am happy I went because I cannot experience this sight in
Japan. After hiking, we went
shopping and we got Native American souvieniers for our friends and
family. We also got Grand Canyon
stickers for our suitcases.
